Josef Mikl was an Austrian painter and printmaker whose abstract work emerged from the postwar reconstruction of Central European modernism. Working primarily in oil and graphic media, he developed a geometric language rooted in constructivist principles while remaining attuned to the expressive possibilities of color and mark-making. Mikl's practice bridged the formalist and gestural traditions of mid-century abstraction, positioning him among the significant voices in postwar Austrian art.
