Lisa Yuskavage paints large-scale female figures in oil and acrylic, rendering bodies with flattened perspective and saturated color that oscillate between decorative surface and psychological weight. Her compositions often isolate single or paired nudes against simplified grounds, resisting both classical idealization and contemporary figuration conventions. Working from her studio in New York, she has sustained a practice centered on the formal and conceptual friction between figuration, abstraction, and the erotic charge of the painted surface itself.
