Aldemir Martins was a Brazilian painter and printmaker whose figurative work emerged from the postwar modernist movement in Latin America. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, he developed a distinctive approach to the human form that balanced expressionist gesture with structural clarity, often depicting laborers, musicians, and domestic scenes. His prints and paintings appeared in major Brazilian institutions and international exhibitions during the mid-to-late twentieth century. Martins worked from São Paulo, where he remained a significant figure in Brazilian modern art until his death in 2006.
