Clovis Trouille
Clovis Trouille was a French painter and sculptor known for darkly comic, grotesque imagery that combined surrealist sensibility with erotic and macabre subject matter. Working across the twentieth century from the 1920s onward, he developed a distinctive visual language of distorted anatomies, carnival theatricality, and provocative figuration that resisted easy categorization within surrealist orthodoxy. His work engaged transgressive themes through a formal precision that made the disturbing intimate and the obscene strangely precise.
