Jules Pascin, born Julius Mordecai Pincas (1885–1930), was a Bulgarian-American Modern artist. Born in Vidin, Bulgaria, to a Spanish-Sephardic father and a Serbian-Italian mother, Pascin's multicultural background influenced his work. He traveled and studied art in Vienna and Munich before settling in Paris in 1905, where he became associated with the École de Paris, mingling with notable artists like Picasso. His art—often characterized by loose, fluid lines akin to the movements of Fauvism and Cubism—captured the human form intimately, reflecting his personal turmoils and the bohemian lifestyle of his time.
