Thomaz Farkas was a Brazilian photographer and filmmaker whose documentary practice emerged in the postwar period, focused on rural and indigenous communities across Brazil's interior and Amazon region. Working primarily in black and white, he combined photojournalistic rigor with an ethnographic impulse, creating extensive visual archives that document social and environmental conditions. His photographs and films served as both artistic statements and records of communities rarely represented in Brazilian mainstream media.
