Thomas F. Barrow was an American photographer known for experimental work with photographic processes and materials, particularly hand-altered prints and unconventional darkroom techniques. Active from the 1960s onward, his practice engaged with the physical and chemical properties of photography itself, treating the medium as a material to be manipulated rather than simply a recording device. His work examined how mechanical reproduction could be disrupted through manual intervention, anticipating later conceptual approaches to photographic practice.
