Satish Gujral was an Indian sculptor, painter, and architect whose work synthesized modernist abstraction with formal vocabularies drawn from classical Indian sculpture and vernacular architecture. Working primarily in bronze, stone, and concrete from the 1950s onward, he developed monumental public works and intimate chamber pieces that balanced geometric severity with organic surface variation. His practice extended across architecture, mural design, and printmaking, establishing him as a defining figure in postwar Indian modernism.
