Douglas Darden was an American architect and experimental designer who treated architectural representation as a generative medium in itself. Working through hand-drawn collages, large-scale assemblies, and immersive installations from the 1970s through 1996, he layered plans, sections, and perspectival notations to investigate the gap between architectural intention and built form. His drawings functioned simultaneously as documents and autonomous artworks, collapsing the boundary between speculative design and spatial experience.
