Tancredi Parmeggiani was an Italian painter and sculptor who developed a gestural, expressive approach to non-representational abstraction during the 1950s. His practice combined painting and three-dimensional form in pursuit of spontaneity and material authenticity, engaging with the informal abstraction movements emerging across postwar Europe. Working across both mediums simultaneously, he sought to dissolve boundaries between surface and object through improvisation and direct material engagement.
