Jan Lenica was a Polish graphic designer, illustrator, and animator who developed a distinctive visual language combining bold typography with surrealist imagery and stark graphic reduction. His posters and book covers of the 1950s and 1960s became foundational to postwar European visual culture, extending into animated film and publishing. Lenica established himself as a central figure in the Polish School of Graphic Design, integrating European modernism with the formal inventiveness of eastern European design practice.
