Installation

Carmen Winant is an American artist working primarily in collage, photography, and installation. Her practice interrogates the archive of intimate and political imagery, particularly photographs from family collections, medical records, and vernacular sources. She constructs large-scale works that collapse personal and collective histories, examining bodies, reproduction, desire, and institutional power through layered, fragmented compositions. Her work has been presented at major institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art. Winant's method transforms found and appropriated material into complex visual arguments about how images shape identity and memory.
