Anicka Yi
Video
Anicka Yi creates fragrant, tactile sculptures and installations from unconventional materials, soap, potato chips, expired powdered milk, snail slime, tempura-fried flowers, that merge sensory seduction with scientific inquiry. Drawing on biochemistry and anthropology, she uses scent to interrogate artificial intelligence, gender, and climate, subverting conventional aesthetic hierarchies. Her work has been presented at MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Tate.
