Harun Farocki was a German artist and filmmaker whose practice centered on photography, film, and video as tools for investigating systems of labor, surveillance, and industrial production. His work examined the visual infrastructure of capitalism, from factory floors to military technologies, with a rigorous formal approach that refuses spectacle. Operating across installation, documentary, and theoretical writing, Farocki produced images and moving images that expose how photographs and footage function as evidence, propaganda, and instruments of control rather than neutral records.
