Paul Virilio is a French theorist and urbanist whose practice spans architecture, film, and critical writing on technology and speed. His work emerged from postwar reconstruction efforts and evolved into a systematic critique of how velocity and digital systems reshape perception, military strategy, and the built environment. He has held positions at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris and developed concepts of dromology and the accident as fundamental to understanding contemporary life. His essays and installations examine surveillance, bunker archaeology, and the velocity of information as forces that fundamentally alter human consciousness.
