Gerardo Rueda was a Spanish abstract painter whose geometric compositions emerged from the postwar European constructivist tradition. Working primarily in oil on canvas, he developed a vocabulary of interlocking planes and carefully calibrated color relationships that negotiate between figuration and pure abstraction. His practice positioned Spain within the broader modernist movements of mid-century Europe during a period of relative cultural isolation.
