Harvey Pekar is an American cartoonist and writer known for American Splendor, a groundbreaking autobiographical comic book series that documented the quotidian experiences of working-class life in Cleveland, Ohio. Working primarily in black and white ink, Pekar collaborated with various illustrators to transform mundane daily observations, conversations overheard on buses, and personal struggles into a distinctly literary form of sequential art.
