Visages

Huguette Caland was a Lebanese painter and printmaker whose abstract compositions explored color relationships and gestural mark-making across oil, acrylic, and etching. Working across the postwar period, she developed a distinctive vocabulary of organic forms and vibrant palettes that resisted narrative or representation. Her practice engaged with modernist abstraction while maintaining a sensibility rooted in her Lebanese context and the Mediterranean light of her surroundings.
