William Turnbull was a British sculptor whose practice spanned abstract and figurative forms in bronze, stone, and steel. Working from the 1950s onward, he developed a distinctive vocabulary of simplified geometric volumes and biomorphic shapes, often evoking both modernist reduction and primordial forms. His work engaged with the legacy of Henry Moore and the broader postwar turn toward abstraction while maintaining a persistent interest in the human figure.
