Pilobolus and Joan

Ed Emshwiller was an American filmmaker and visual artist whose practice spanned experimental cinema, video art, and kinetic sculpture from the 1950s onward. Working across analog film and early video technologies, he created abstract and figurative works that explored movement, light, and the formal properties of the moving image itself. His contributions to experimental film and video art positioned him as a significant figure in postwar American avant-garde practice.
