Artist

Rem Koolhaas is a Dutch architect and theorist whose buildings and urban designs treat architecture as a form of cultural and political analysis. Working primarily in concrete and steel, his practice interrogates the relationship between modernism, globalization, and the built environment through structures that often embrace apparent contradiction or excess. His work spans residential, civic, and commercial commissions across Europe, Asia, and North America. Koolhaas is also a prolific writer whose essays and manifestos have shaped contemporary architectural discourse since the 1970s.
