Betty Dodson is an American artist and educator known for explicit drawings and paintings of female sexuality and masturbation since the 1960s. Working primarily in ink and watercolor, she developed a graphic vocabulary that treats the vulva as a subject of aesthetic and anatomical study rather than taboo. Her practice extended into workshops and publications that positioned sexual self-knowledge as central to women's liberation and bodily autonomy. Dodson's work dismantled the separation between art education, feminist consciousness, and sexual health.
