Francesco Somaini
Sculpture
Francesco Somaini was an Italian sculptor whose abstract forms emerged from the postwar reconstruction of European modernism. Working primarily in bronze and stone, he developed a vocabulary of interlocking geometric and organic shapes that engaged with both constructivism and abstraction. Active from the 1950s onward, Somaini's practice bridged rationalist sculptural principles with a sensibility attuned to material presence and spatial intervention.
