Painting
Piero Dorazio was born in Rome in 1927. After his studies, in 1947 he founded the Forma 1 group with Giulio Turcato, Concetto Maugeri, Antonio Sanfilippo and Carla Accardi. During the 1960s, his work was regularly included in major group exhibitions in Italy and internationally. In the following decades, he never stopped questioning abstractionism and continued to paint assiduously and to cultivate friendly relations with numerous artists and exponents of Italian and international cultural and political life, also thanks to his participation in the Italian cultural debate from the pages of the 'Corriere della Sera', with which he began a regular collaboration. He died in 2005 in his beloved Todi, where he lived since 1973.
