1962·Photo-etching, aquatint, mezzotint, roulette, and drypoint, with scraping and burnishing, in blue-black on ivory wove paper·Image/plate: 30.6 × 47.5 cm (12 1/16 × 18 3/4 in.); Sheet: 43.2 × 63.3 cm (17 1/16 × 24 15/16 in.)

Vera Berdich produced the seventh state of The Pool of Tears as she finished developing the key elements of the image; she reworked the rabbits with drypoint, turning them into skulls and categorically transforming the image to make it nightmarish.
