Alberto da Veiga Guignard was a Brazilian painter and educator whose work bridged European modernism and Brazilian landscape tradition. Active from the early 20th century, he developed a distinctive approach to color and form that influenced a generation of Brazilian artists through his teaching. His paintings, executed primarily in oil, combine post-impressionist sensibility with a deep engagement with tropical light and vegetation. Guignard remains a foundational figure in Brazilian modernism, central to the country's artistic development during the mid-20th century.
