Relief-Composition

Jean Gorin was a French abstract artist and founding member of the Abstraction-Création group who pioneered geometric abstraction in the 1930s. Working primarily in oil on canvas and constructed reliefs, he developed a rigorous vocabulary of interlocking planes and primary colors influenced by De Stijl and Constructivism. His work remained committed to pure abstraction throughout his career, resisting figuration even as artistic movements shifted around him.
