Abstract

John Banting was a British painter and designer whose practice spanned abstraction, surrealism, and figurative work across the mid-twentieth century. Active in London's avant-garde circles from the 1920s onward, he contributed to the development of modernist painting in Britain during the interwar and postwar periods. His work encompassed easel painting, mural design, and set design for theatre and ballet.
