Grete Lihotzky was an Austrian architect and designer who pioneered the rationalization of domestic space through kitchen design and social housing. Working primarily in the early-to-mid twentieth century, she developed modular, efficiency-focused interiors that merged functionalist principles with concern for working-class living conditions. Her Frankfurt Kitchen (1926, 1930) established a template for compact, ergonomic workspace that influenced modernist domestic design internationally.
