Georg Muche was a German painter and textile designer whose work bridged Expressionism and geometric abstraction. A key figure at the Bauhaus from 1920 to 1927, he developed a distinctive approach to color theory and compositional harmony that influenced the school's pedagogical methods. His paintings combine bold, flattened forms with a restrained palette, while his textile designs extended these principles into applied practice. After leaving the Bauhaus, Muche continued to work across painting, printmaking, and design until his death in 1987.
