Painting

Max Slevogt (1868, 1932) was a German painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism and Expressionism, known for his dynamic brushwork and loose, gestural approach to landscape and portraiture. His oils and watercolors capture light and movement with particular intensity in scenes of daily life and theatrical subjects. Slevogt worked across painting, etching, and lithography, treating each medium with equal inventiveness. He remained a significant figure in early twentieth-century German modernism until his death in Neukastel.
