Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes was a French painter, poet, and theatre director who participated in the Dada movement during the First World War and its aftermath. Working across painting, collage, and performance, he helped establish Dada's anti-art ethos in Paris and Berlin before turning toward figuration and literary pursuits in the 1920s. His visual work combined geometric abstraction with gestural mark-making, often accompanied by nonsensical titles that reinforced Dada's rejection of rational meaning.
