WW-1747-143452
1747·Soft-paste porcelain·30.8 × 22.3 × 22.4 cm (12 1/8 × 8 3/4 × 8 13/16 in.)

White porcelain figures covered with transparent glaze were the first examples of sculpture to emerge from Vincennes. Unusual for its large scale, this figure is a sculptural tour de force. The river god’s taut musculature, expressive limbs, and windblown hair are modeled with extraordinary vigor.
