Francesco Mochi was an Italian Baroque sculptor whose dynamic marble and bronze figures pioneered a new expressiveness in religious and equestrian monuments. Active in Rome and Orvieto during the early 17th century, he moved beyond High Renaissance restraint toward dramatic gesture and intense emotional presence. His monumental horse and rider sculptures set a template for Baroque public sculpture across Europe.
