François Duquesnoy
Sculpture
François Duquesnoy was a Flemish sculptor of the 17th century known for small-scale marble and bronze figures of religious and mythological subjects. Active primarily in Rome from the 1620s onward, he developed a refined classical style that departed from the more theatrical Baroque of his contemporaries, favoring restraint and delicate modeling. His marble putti and relief compositions influenced European sculpture through the remainder of the century.
