Sculpture
Giovanni della Robbia was an Italian Renaissance sculptor working primarily in glazed terracotta, a technique perfected and popularized by his family workshop in Florence. Active during the late 15th and early 16th centuries, he continued the della Robbia tradition of large-scale decorative reliefs and architectural sculpture rendered in brilliant, durable enamels. His work extended the family's innovations in color and material into new formal territories, maintaining the distinctive white and blue palette while expanding the scale and ambition of sculptural commissions across central Italy.
