Pavel Kuznetsov was a Russian painter and graphic artist who merged decorative patterning with figurative subjects drawn from Central Asian and Russian folk traditions. Working across oil, watercolor, and lithography, he developed a distinctive visual language rooted in symbolism and neo-primitivism during the early twentieth century. Based in Moscow and later Leningrad, Kuznetsov sustained a significant presence in Soviet modernism for seven decades, bridging avant-garde formal invention with accessible narrative content.
