Judith Leiber was a Hungarian-American handbag designer known for meticulously crafted minaudières in crystalline beadwork and enamel. Working from New York from the 1950s onward, she developed a signature technique of hand-sewn crystal embellishment that transformed small evening bags into sculptural objects. Her pieces are held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution. Each bag functioned as a portable artwork, often completed over weeks by hand.
