Jean-Michel Othoniel works across sculpture, installation, film, and photography, producing forms most recognisable for their use of blown glass, often configured into large-scale bead-like structures in vivid, jewel-toned colours. His practice occupies a territory between architecture and ornament, vulnerability and excess. His most prominent permanent work, commissioned in 2000, is the entrance kiosk for the Palais Royal. Musée du Louvre Paris Métro station, a canopy of oversized glass spheres that has become one of the city's most recognisable public art interventions.
