Franz Iffland was a German sculptor whose practice moved from Art Nouveau ornamentalism to Art Deco severity across his career. Working in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, his sculptures embodied the transition between these two dominant aesthetic movements, with his later works from the mid-1920s onward adopting the geometric reduction and streamlined forms characteristic of Deco design. Born and based in Berlin, Iffland bridged Prussian academic tradition with modernist formal innovation.
