Christian Zervos was a French art historian, publisher, and curator who fundamentally shaped modern art documentation through his editorial work. Founder of Cahiers d'Art, the influential modernist journal launched in 1926, he championed avant-garde practice and produced the first comprehensive catalogues raisonnés of major twentieth-century artists including Picasso and Miró. His publishing enterprise established the critical and archival infrastructure through which modernism was codified and transmitted to subsequent generations.
