Why this artist matters now
Flavio Poli was an Italian glass artist and designer whose work defined the aesthetic of postwar Venetian glassmaking. Working primarily in blown and molded glass, he developed a distinctive formal vocabulary of sinuous, organic forms often rendered in rich jewel tones and subtle surface treatments. His designs for Seguso Vetri d'Arte established him as a leading figure in twentieth-century decorative glass, bridging craft tradition with modernist sensibility. Poli's vessels and sculptural objects remain significant examples of Italian design's influence on postwar international taste.
