Giuseppe Caletti was an Italian Baroque painter and engraver active in Ferrara and Cremona who depicted religious narratives in contemporary dress and domestic settings. His approach drew on Titian's precedent of mixing sacred and profane subject matter, merging biblical scenes with the visual language of everyday life and occasional Bacchanalian themes. Working primarily in oil, Caletti created works that collapsed the distance between the spiritual and the material world through costume and architectural detail.
