Anatoly Timofeevich Zverev was a Russian painter and draftsman whose gestural, expressionistic approach to figuration and landscape emerged from the postwar period. Working primarily in ink and watercolor, he developed a distinctive fluid line and spontaneous mark-making that prioritized immediacy over finish. His practice engaged abstraction and representation in equal measure, drawing on Soviet modernist traditions while maintaining a deeply personal visual language rooted in drawing.
