K.R.H. Sonderborg was a Danish abstract artist working in gestural painting and drawing from the 1950s onward. His work emerged from Art Informel and tachisme, employing rapid, energetic mark-making and spontaneous application of paint and ink to explore the physical act of creation itself. Operating primarily in Copenhagen, Sonderborg developed a distinctive vocabulary of calligraphic strokes and rhythmic compositions that prioritized process over representation.
