Jene Highstein created monumental abstract sculptures in stone, wood, and bronze that investigated the relationship between geometric form and material weight. Working from the 1970s onward, his carved and cast works engaged the viewer's bodily experience of scale and space, whether installed in landscape or interior settings. His practice centered on how massive form reshapes perception of its surrounding environment.
