Why this artist matters now
JoAnn Verburg was an American photographer whose practice centered on intimate domestic observation and the rhythms of everyday life. Working primarily in color, she developed a sustained visual conversation with her husband, poet Jim Moore, depicting him reading, resting, and moving through shared domestic and travel spaces. Her photographs transform quotidian moments into meditations on time, companionship, and the texture of ordinary days. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota and Spoleto, Italy, Verburg's work was represented by Pace Gallery.
